I am an ex- ITE student. I recently finished my 2 years studies in Air conditioning and Refrigeration. I graduated in April 06. I went to look for a polytechnic to finish my education and get a diploma in some field. When I asked one of the lecturers there he told me that you can’t enter the field you want because we don’t accept ITE student and your field is not relevant. So much hope to enter a poly but then they don’t give a damn about you and they think ITE students can’t make it. You need certain criteria to enter the poly. But why you build such a big place for students to learn?. Ask yourself knowledge is ever expanding. You went to a technical school and study, but they won’t accept you because you are not a COM (Certificate of Merit) student or an “O level” student who has failed in his English, Math. I think why don’t you people give those who haven’t got a COM or students who failed in their O levels a chance in the polytechnic to study?.
If the O level student fails in English or Math give him a chance and you will see that people given a chance they will strive harder and will get a diploma, rather than those who waste their life in poly doing nothing but creating trouble. All I can say is education here sucks cause people want to learn you never give them a chance to study but instead get people who come to poly and waste their time.
Hey you lecturers think for yourself if your son or daughter ends up in a situation like the above imagine how would your children feel? How would you feel?. You people carry on like this you will go down in my record books depriving students who can study but just needs help to brush up their studies. All you lecturers think you are the greatest in your field but I promise you that you are nuts when compared to the other countries lectures, because they are far more experienced in the industry then you will ever will be. Anyway all you guys know are the basics. Show off that you are a lecturer in a poly, got car, a condo but in reality you are just like one of us. Step out of the poly life and see what people less educated than you can achieve. Their feat are more than you put all your years of teaching.
